F8 is coagulation factor VIII acting as procoagulant component. F8 participates in the intrinsic pathway of blood coagulation. F8 is a product of the von Willebrand factor gene, and it is expressed in endothelial cells, megakaryocytes and thrombocytes. However, endothelial cells of large blood vessels, liver sinusoids and lymphatics are often F8 negative. Defects in F8 gene results in hemophilia A, a common recessive X-linked coagulation disorder. This antibody is useful for detection of the vascular neoplasms for example with CD31 and CD34.
